7 strategies to develop your mindset with coaching

2022 is about to begin and the goals you want to achieve for this new year are probably becoming clear. There are many people who have good intentions and goals for the new year, but there are just as many people who tend to procrastinate until they find themselves, year after year, chasing the same desires that now seem as unattainable as comets.
You probably know that “there is a deep sea between saying and doing”! Many people last year promised themselves, probably while having a Christmas treat, that after the holidays they would go on a diet and that they would exercise on a regular and constant basis. But here they are, at the beginning of the new year with a cake in their hands, as they complain that another year has passed without a significant change in their habits. Other people still complain, declaring that they won’t accept another year like the one that has just ended and they promise themselves, as they had done the previous year, to start with concrete changes.
People promise to change their lives, to change their habits and to be better, but in order to move from ideas to action there is a mindset to adopt, and often this is the part that people underestimate the most.
In this article I am going to reveal some strategies that are used in coaching to define and manifest goals. These strategies allow you to develop a better mindset and to adopt logical reasoning in order to create more results and value in your life.
What is the word mindset, what does it mean and why is it important in coaching?
The term mindset comes from cognitive psychology which studies how people process information through their usual mental state. An individual’s mindset determines how they perform daily tasks, how they make decisions and cope with situations, and how they react to challenges.
When I explain to my clients what the mindset is, I use these words: The mindset is how you set (or program) your mind before having an experience. It is how you organise your thoughts and visions; it is how you process your emotional meanings towards situations and people. It is how you process in your mind the effects you want to generate through your actions and your communication, even before having an experience.
The mindset is a mental setting that you implement to live a given experience even before living the experience itself.
This explains why we talk about techniques and strategies to “develop the mindset” or “improve the mindset” or “enhance the mindset“; precisely because the mindset is a muscle that trains with the practice of strategic reasoning and self-reflection. Having the strategies to develop an agile and flexible mindset allows you to act and to move around the world with respect for everyone and in a winning way; a good mindset is the key to personal fulfilment and success.
The more a person develops their mindset, the more rewarding life experiences they generate. By applying real reasoning strategies, you can move within effective and efficient mental schemes and generate greater personal, relational and professional results. The mindset is therefore important because it determines the quality of your thoughts, your emotions, your actions and how you deal with situations and react to life’s challenges.
Only with a well-set mental setting and by carefully planning your actions, you will be able to manifest solid and lasting success.

Here are some strategies to set your mindset when you have a goal.
- Define your goal: To define your goal, you need to know what you want and why you want to manifest it.
Remember that you want to achieve effects that generate emotions, you do not want to obtain things or people. Through the achievement of your goals and your visions you want to experience sensations of pleasure, satisfaction and fulfilment, all in an emotional movement of perpetual well-being. Your emotional goal wants to be your new normality.
Look at your goal and check the answers to these questions:
- Do I express my goal positively? Am I putting my observation on what I want and not on what I do not want or what I fear? So, I express my goal positively.
- Is my goal accurate? I am precise in formulating what I want to express, it is not “I want to feel good” but it is rather “I want to start doing sports every morning, at least 30 minutes a day to feel good”
- Is my goal concrete? I have a clear vision of what I want, it is objective, quantifiable.
- Does my goal have a definition of time? It is a short-term goal (achievable in six months, one year), it is a medium-term goal (between two and four years), or it is a long-term goal (more than five years).
- Is my goal achievable? Going to the moon is a goal but it is unrealistic, so check the feasibility of your goal. It is achievable if you can manifest it using your resources.

Define your Action Plan, and then define your Parachute Action Plan in detail.
-
It is essential to plan the actions and steps required to achieve a goal. And it is even more important to establish a life-saving plan, especially when it comes to important visions or goals, such as business decisions or those of parents for their children. The brain is precise and procedural, it is like a GPS. It needs to orient itself in the choices and it needs to see clearly in order to know where you want to go and to implement the best strategies for you.
Planning is important but having a parachute plan is strategic: in the event of stress and urgency, it allows you to change direction during the process.
-
Is your goal win-win, is it in the interest of everyone involved?
Make sure your action planning considers the needs of others. It is important to act in your best interest while preserving the people involved. If your goal hurts other people or limits their well-being or success, your goal is not ethical. Check that your goal is win-win and ethical otherwise find solutions. In the long run, this attitude preserves yourself, your reputation, your relationships and your success.
-
If you have a dream, do not tell anyone until you have manifested it.
This is a golden rule, when you have a dream do not tell anyone until you are sure you can manifest it in its entirety. The emotional restraints of others, their doubts and perceptions, can limit your motivation and damage you like a pebble in your shoe during a marathon. Be patient, act with awareness and responsibility and not out of ego and demonstration towards others.
- Visualize your goal in its best form and feel the emotions that this vision transmits to you: connect to that potential!

You will have to practice connecting to your “Me of the future” to feel emotions and thoughts here and now. You will have to learn to feel what is already felt in the future even before manifesting it. Close your eyes and connect to your “future self” who has already manifested your vision and what you want. Do this exercise. You will have to feel your vision so alive to live it already now in the present, with all those emotions of enthusiasm and joy that your “Me of the future” already feels.
The skills I am talking about are neuro-emotional skills, or the ability to prepare and train your neurology for success. Your thoughts and emotions act on the neuroplasticity of the brain. If you learn to formulate your choices today in the emotional frequency of future success, it means that you are already creating a neurology capable of connecting to potentials of trust, strength, security, enthusiasm and satisfaction.

When fear interferes with your choices and actions, you do not obtain the same results as when you trust and are certain about them. If you are interested in these topics, you can buy my book “Neuro Emotional Transformation”, Bruno Editore.
LAW OF ATTRACTION
We often hear about the Law of Attraction, but we have to dispel the myth of “visualize what you want, and it will come to you”; it does not work like that! The Law of Attraction is a tuning of the brain on the neuro-emotional level, a state in which the brain spontaneously activates the best mental, emotional and physical responses. In doing so, by generating a lot of energy catalysed on a vision, the nervous system has a lot of energy available to create and, if you keep your brain tuned to the frequency of your vision long enough, you enter entanglement with what you desire. It takes method, it is a matter of creating a competence on the neuro-emotional level, as reading, for example, is a competence on the cognitive level.
- Celebrate when you get an achievement!
Be grateful to yourself for the commitment, perseverance and energy you devote to your projects, and celebrate and honour yourself for each milestone achieved! There is no worse attitude than reaching a finish line and focusing on what could have gone better and what is still wrong. Start with a pat on the back and then adjust the shot. Many people are unable to gratify and thank themselves, they look for perfection and, consequently, they are never satisfied. Abundance comes to you when you are grateful for what you have, not when you are frustrated and dissatisfied!
The brain needs to feel the gratitude associated with the achievement of your positive results in order to generate willingness to seek pleasure.
Create your own ritual of success: what will you reward yourself with once you reach your goal? What is the prize you will grant yourself during the intermediate stages? Who will you share your success with? In this way you create self-motivation by conditioning your mind and body for the pleasure of success.
- Share your victories with people who value you
There is no better moment than sharing your victories with people who love you and there is nothing worse than sharing them with those who judge you, are jealous and compete with you.

Now that you have understood some strategies to increase your mindset and manifest your visions, you have also understood that it is not fate that make people lucky, it is the time invested in themselves to improve their attitude and performance.
If you are living one of the moments of life that I have listed below, you are ready for a change and if you do not know where to start, I recommend that you look for a mentor:
- You feel you have great potential, but you cannot understand how to bring your resources and energies together and direct them in favour of your visions.
- You have everything at your disposal to manifest success but somehow you are stuck or disoriented and unable to align with the flow of creation.
- You would like to accelerate but you feel you must clean up and tidy up your ideas, relationships and things in order to make the leap in quality you are waiting for.
- You would like to do many things but your energies in recent years have dropped, you feel tired and this affects your strength and your motivation.
- You have an important project and you want to win, you do not want to risk that stress or unforeseen events take you off guard.
Everyone is someone’s master and someone else’s pupil, everyone has their own mentor, and if you too want to be successful and to accelerate in life, you will need to seek out who will guide you through your transformation.
If you are wondering why it is so important, I will explain it to you, it is very simple: it will take you more time if you search for strategies and techniques without help, while if you have someone who already packs your knowledge and acts as a mirror for you, then acceleration to success is guaranteed!
